My First Aha Moment About Diabetes

My first Bing Moment About Diabetes

I went to see my doctor for a follow up appointment for my diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I asked my doctor how long would I have to be on all the medications. He replied, “probably for the rest of your life”. He continued to say that diabetes is a chronic disease and will get worst as you get older.  Many questions started bouncing in my mind….What pharmaceutical company was he working for? Why would it get worst as I aged? What did people do before the pharmaceutical companies existed?

I didn’t like or maybe, believe what I was hearing from my doctor about my health condition and my future of staying healthy. I decided to do my own research on the subject of diabetes.

366 million people have diabetes in 2012; by 2030 the number of people diabetes will effect will rise to 552 million!

183 million people have diabetes that are not diagnosed.

465 billion US dollars were spent on healthcare costs associated with diabetes in 2011.

Diabetes was the cause for 4.6 million deaths in 2011.

In 1958 about 1 million Americans were diagnosed with having diabetes compared to about 23 million in 2013.

Clearly, as I researched on the internet more and more….BING! it HIT me….. 465 billion dollars were spent to treat diabetes…a steady increase of effected people over the years. Diabetes and any cardiovascular diseases was a big, BIG, business. That is when I decided to change my life style. I decided to take action on healing myself naturally after my experience in the hospital. All the challenges that took place after my heart attack. I was blessed with a heart attack to see, firsthand, how my healthcare system functioned as an industry .  My Rate  2 out of 10…You can read my story here
